Our comprehensive educational consultation and non-attorney advocacy services are designed to support students and families in navigating the often complex educational landscape, particularly concerning special education and disability rights, without providing legal representation. We educate our clients throughout the process to build their capacity to advocate with a stronger understanding of the laws, policies, and their parental rights.
Trusting that your student has the best educational programming to meet their unique needs can be hard when there are so many complex policies and processes involved. Through educational consultation, we help families feel comfortable and prepared by reviewing records (student history, educational data, IEPs/504 Plans, etc.), interpreting reports and evaluations, explaining implications, and making recommendations to current educational programming. Our educational consultant works closely with the family to ensure their child’s needs are met, and their voices are heard.
Understanding special education laws and your parental rights is crucial. We offer specialized education advocacy services to help families understand their rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other relevant legislation, ensuring that schools provide the required services and supports. Whether it’s a school meeting, disciplinary hearing, or any other educational proceeding, we will stand by your side, representing your child’s interests and ensuring fair treatment. We help you interpret data and educational jargon and articulate your concerns to your child’s educators. As your advocate, we can assist parents with submitting written requests, drafting responses, and complaints to schools. We also prepare parents for IEP and 504 meetings, check documentation for compliance and accuracy, and accompany parents to IEP and 504 meetings to offer support and advice. We ensure that these plans meet students’ specific needs and comply with legal requirements.
*Non-attorney advocates are not licensed attorneys and cannot give legal advice. We will always refer you to and work with licensed counsel if necessary.
